The film The Breakfast Club is an ensemble work that provides an exploration of how group mentality and individual growth can sometimes come in conflict, showing that social and peer group behavior is not always reflective of individual personality and growth. The following paper will explore the different ways that the film expresses the experience of adolescent growth and development. The Breakfast Club, one of the best artistic expressions of the adolescent experience, is a film that uses conflict and tension to explore the experience of growing up in America and living the adolescent experience. The film is an example of how peer group experiences influence the development of personal ideals and behaviors. Identity The Breakfast Club begins with a narrated statement written by Michael Anthony Hall’s character, Brian Johnson, who represents students who are considered to be ‘geeks’, ‘nerds’, or ‘brains’, depending on how weaker looking, but more intelligent students were categorized in any given high school. His statement is as follows: Saturday, March 24,1984. Shermer High School, Shermer, Illinois, 60062. You see us as a brain, an athlete, a basket case, a princess and a criminal. Correct? Thats the way we saw each other at 7:00 this morning. We were brainwashed (IMDB) This statement sets up the premise of the film as the students begin by dismissing each other as being nothing more than representative of a series of stereotypes. The beginning of the film explores the way in which they see each other through their affiliation with other students of a similar type who are categorized according to similar aspects of the physical appearance as it connected to similar interests. Truths begin to emerge about the way in which each student individualizes their experiences within the social group in which they are identified. The students become divided into two groups; with John Bender remaining on the outside of those groups similar to his classification of criminal would place him outside of societal. Molly Ringwald’s character, Claire Standish and Emilio Estevez’s character Andrew Clark represent the more powerful groups in the high school atmosphere.

Why Don t More People Know About This Deadly Disease

Why don’t more people know about this deadly disease? Why is there not more funding pouring in from around the nation? After all, a disease that claims the lives of about 1,920 people ages 65 and up per day (700,000 per year) (â€Å"Facts And Figures†) deserves a little more attention. Remember, this number is just the deaths and doesn’t even include the over five million people who currently live with Alzheimer’s (â€Å"Facts and Figures†) or those who must step up daily and reteach their loved ones the most pedestrian of tasks time after time. John Smith’s 1616 Letter to Queen Anne of Great Britain: Most admired Queen, The love I bear my God, my King and country, hath so oft emboldened me in the worst of extreme dangers, that now honesty doth constrain me to presume thus far beyond myself, to present your Majesty this short discourse: if ingratitude be a deadly poison to all honest virtues, I must be guilty of that crime if I should omit any means to be thankful. So it is, that some ten years ago being in Virginia, and taken prisoner by the power of Powhatan their chief King, I received from this great Salvage exceeding great courtesy, especially from his son Nantaquaus, the most manliest, comeliest, boldest spirit, I ever saw in a Salvage, and his sister Pocahontas, the Kings most dear and well-beloved daughter, being but a child of twelve or thirteen years of age, whose compassionate pitiful heart, of my desperate estate, gave me much cause to respect her: I being the first Christian this proud King and his grim attendants ever saw: and thus enthralled in their barbarous power, I cannot say I felt the least occasion of want that was in the power of those my mortal foes to prevent, notwithstanding all their threats. After some six weeks fatting amongst those Salvage courtiers, at the minute of my execution, she hazarded the beating out of her own brains to save mine; and not only that, but so prevailed with her father, that I was safely cond ucted to Jamestown: where I found about eight and thirty miserable poor and sick creatures, to keep possession of all those large territories of Virginia; such was the weakness of this poor commonwealth, as had the salvages not fed us, we directly had starved. Since then, this business having been turned and varied by many accidents from that I left it at: it is most certain, after a long and troublesome war after my departure, betwixt her father and our colony; all which time she was not heard of. About two years after she herself was taken prisoner, being so detained near two years longer, the colony by that means was relieved, peace concluded; and at last rejecting her barbarous condition, she was married to an English Gentleman, with whom at this present she is in England; the first Christian ever of that Nation, the first Virginian ever spoke English, or had a child in marriage by an Englishman: a matter surely, if my meaning be truly considered and well understood, worthy a Princes understanding. Answer: Introduction The strategic management identifies and describes the strategies that are used by the managers for achieving a better performance and a competitive advantage for the organization. It is a bundle of decision and acts that the managers undertake, it is also helpful in deciding the result of the firms performance. The strategic management is applicable to small as well as large organizations, the small organizations too face competition and by implementation and formulation of appropriate strategies sustainable competitive advantage can be attained. The decisions about future directions of the organization in which it is moving can be identified by the proper planning of the strategic management. It is a continuous process that is used to evaluate the working (MSG management study guide, 2017). The current standard linear approach to the strategic management focuses on the planning of the goals, achieving these goals, the planning in this approach is done to deal with the competitors. A good strategy is always a basis for good decisions into a business, those strategies supporting the successful companies and the innovative companies will be responsible for the issues in the environmental as well as social aspects. The approach deals with the competitions for acknowledging the ideas for achieving the goals of the organization. The current standard linear approach develops the logics from the doing of the past, the approach analysis the ways to keep a strong check about the work from the past and leads to a standard increase in the growth. The working of the organization does not run by itself, the type of the strategies and the decisions are the major key to the success. The strategic management is used to gain a very high quality workforce and a good working environment. T he impact in the decision making processes all throughout the year can be also ascertained by the approaches of the strategic management. Approaches to strategic management The strategic management is a process of setting of the long term goals and these goals can be achieved by the implementation of the three approaches into the business. The strategies that are used by the organization in the decision making process for the long term, results in increased growth. The strategic goal of the firm is more likely to be gained by the three different approaches. These approaches of the strategic management help to analyze the competition and the market of the business. The stakeholders approach, the dynamic capability and the sustainable approach have been very useful in the organizational success. The strategies are very much useful in gaining the competitive advantage by their implementation in the process (Freeman, 2010). The stakeholder approach The strategic managements, stakeholders approach suggests that the managers must implement and formulate only those processes which satisfy all those groups that has stake in the businesses. The process is to manage the interests of the stakeholder, the customers, the suppliers, the employees and the other groups in such a way that it may ensure a long term achievement and successes of the firm. The stakeholder approach emphasis on the environment of the organization, the active management of the organization and the promotions of the shared interests. The major importance of the stakeholders approach is in investing relationship with those who have the stake in the firm. The relationships stability depends on the sharing of at least a core principle values, thus allowing the managers to into the formation and implementation of the strategic plan. The approach focuses on developing a strategy that would benefit the firm and lead a direction for the proper decision making in the future. There are several characteristics o0f the approach: It is provides a single strategic framework, a framework that is flexible enough in dealing with the environmental shifts and without the adaptation of the new strategic plans by the managers. The stakeholders approach is a strategic management process not a strategic planning process. It works on actively plotting the new directions that is helpful for the firm, in a consideration of the affect the firm can make to the environment as well as the environment makes on the firm. The survival of the firm is the major concern for the stakeholders approach, therefore for the survival of the firm in the environment that is troublesome; the management must direct a course for the firm, the stakeholders relationships understanding is the main focus for achieving the objectives of the organization. The stakeholders framework is used to identify the needs to analyze the different levels of the issues that occur in the organization; the approach introduces the organizations stake and traces the idea to research the several areas (NCBI, n.d). Dynamic capabilities The dynamic capabilities framework analyzes the methods and the sources of creating the wealth. Term dynamic means the capacity of renewing the competences for achieving the change in the business environment. Whereas the term capabilities are the key role of the strategic management that appropriately adapts, integrates and reconfigures the internal as well as the external skills of the organization, the resources as well the functional competencies that would match the requirements of the changing environment. Dynamic capabilities are the ability of the organization to integrate, build and analyze the internal as well as the external competences to the rapidly changing environment. The dynamic capabilities of an organization reflect the ability of achieving new innovative forms of competitive advantage. The frameworks of the dynamic capabilities are: Processes: the way of doing the things. Positions: the specific and the current endowments, the technology, the customers base, external relations. Paths: the alternatives that can be used in the strategies, the presence or absence of increasing returns. The dynamic capability is considered to be an emerging and potential approach to the newer sources of the competitive advantage. It is necessary to meet the new challenges, the dynamic capability are therefore very necessary for any organization. The new strategies must be formed and the old ones must be transformed or reconfigured. The Apple and the IBM are the two companies whose dynamic capability has been enabled to evolve with the rapid change. There is a unique case with the company Apple, the company is not a technological leader but proves to be a master at the marketing. IBM is a true technological innovator and both internally and externally markets in the areas of its participation. The dynamic capabilities usefully are thought as activities and adjustments (Kleiner, 2013). Sustainable approach The sustainable framework of the sustainable approach shows that all the aspects are of equal importance. Working to the framework will be helpful in the future sustainability, it is a defining and as well as a powerful idea. An organization is said to be sustainable if it creates profit for its shareholders with the improvement and protection of the environment. The idea of the sustainability has been present in the management field for a very long time. The sustainability is defined to be a concept that has the holistic perspective of the development of the goals of the organization, the sustainable approach to strategic management is an effect of the evaluation of the strategies towards the environment. The result of the sustainable approach not only changes the perspective but also the perception of the implementing the organizational strategies. Sustainable approach is simple and universal; it is a concept that is not amenable. The sustainability changes over time as the information increases and the societys evolving priorities. The organizations sustainability remains indefinite. It is seen that the ability of making changes varies according to the size of the organization. Taking an example of the forest industry, it has always had a difficulty in defining the reason that contributes to the sustainable forest management. It is believed by some critics that the replacement of the trees is not enough, simply the reason being that, harvesting destroys the forests biodiversity. The future of the organization depends on the decision that would be helpful to stimulate the working. The sustainability activities are used to compare the peers of the organization to the competitors, the strength, key opportunities evolving to the firm. The sustainability approach in the strategic management helps to cut through the information that would focus on the right thing and the right order with a higher ambition. The more use of the resources in a better way for the sustainable development of the firm ensures the right decision to make a better working in the organization (Witek, 2012). Conclusion The strategic management is the process by which the managers identify and describes the strategies that are used in achieving a better performance and desired result. The three approaches of the strategic management, the stakeholders approach, the dynamic capabilities and the sustainable approach have been explained, the stakeholders approach manages the stake of the organization, and the dynamic capabilities of an organization reflect the ability of achieving new innovative forms of competitive advantage, the sustainable approach focuses on the improvement of the environment. The strong organization has an excellent chance of becoming Viability of each approach: The strategic managements approaches takes time to be implemented, but the viability of the approaches the stakeholders approach, dynamic capabilities and the sustainable approach are very much useful and results in long term gain and also results in putting into action the strategies for a better profit gain in the future, the success of the organization depends on every each step by step process that takes place within the organization. The strategies used are therefore very much important to be better resulting. Suggested benefits The stakeholders have several key benefits, the stakeholders approach helps in the decision making process, the approach also helps in securing the resources for assisting the decisions on the projects. The approach helps in building trust that leads to a better decision making (Ryckman, 2017). The dynamic capabilities concerns the development of the organizations ability, adapt the radical discontinuous change, also maintaining the minimum standards of capability to the survival of the competition. The sustainability approach reaps many benefits in the strategic management, it is a source of innovation and growth for the organizations, and the strategic advantages that are gained by the sustainable approach are: attract top talent, creates a legacy, operational efficiency and responsible innovation (Mckinseycompany sustainability resource productivity, 2010). There are many benefits that are gained by the use of the three approaches to the strategic management. These approaches are responsible for the increase in the ability of the firm to take decisions regarding the proper functioning and working. Implementation issues: The issues that have been a major concern for the implementation of the stakeholders approach is the time, the timeline of the project. The supervisory issues have been one of the greatest concerns also. Involving the stakeholders and not taking their advice leads to distrust and hamper the morale. The dynamic capabilities major implementation issues have been seen in the areas that have a very rigid acceptance of the factors that bring changes. It also has seen to be difficult and takes time to come into flow, so there can be many issues that may arise in the implementation. The implementation issues of the sustainable approach is that, the sustainable approach takes long time for it to be considered in working force, it takes a lot of planning as the future of the organization is also concerned. Limitations The following have seen to be the limitation of the approaches: Time consuming and difficulty in the coordination. Some individuals may not express their opinions in the group. The dynamic may hamper the prioritization process. Can be divergent and difficult to reach. The strategic management approaches are considered to be time consuming, the reason being that, the implementation of these can be very much into consideration and also expecting a longer run result or output. There may be at time that, within some of the organizations the individuals of some groups do not express themselves very clearly, which in turns leads to the wrong decision making, the approaches used are therefore affected and are considered to be not giving a better result, effecting the performance of the organization. The dynamic capabilities are essential but sometimes the changes so made suddenly are very likely to hamper the working within the organization. This in turns brings a huge effect to the organization and the processes. These approaches can be at some point of time divergent and also considered to be difficult to attain and reached (Ryckman, 2017). Statistical Analysis Online Mode of Education

Question: Discuss about the Statistical Analysis Online Mode of Education. Answer: Introduction: The current study outlines the current trends in America on the online mode of education. In the recent years the higher education sectors has witnessed upward surge in growth and expansion. There is large number of universities in United States that offers online mode of education. Numerous statistical tools has been undertaken to evaluate the quality of the education imparted in these universities and colleges (Afifi and Azen 2014). The existing report provides a brief description of the analysis undertaken through using several statistical tools. The data obtained represents the graduation rates and rate of retention of students in the universities. Objectives of this study: The major objective of this study is to assess the quality of the education imparted by the universities in United States. Background of the study: Currently the higher education sector in United States is undergoing several challenges over the last few years. The online mode of education is considered as the most sought after mode of imparting lessons in the recent days. Several universities have adopted online mode of education across United States. It is noteworthy to denote that the techniques adopted to impart learnings are also regarded as highly efficient in those universities. The online mode of education saves time as student living in distant places can gain access to study material and other materials associated with course through the help of internet (Deshpandeet al. 2016). The report highlights the quality of online mode of study in Universities in being understood. The report lays down the notion concerning the method of data collection along with the analysis of data as well. Following the analysis interpretation is also performed in the given report. Methods implemented for Analysis: The current report uses the data collected from 29 universities of United States. The collected represents that rate of retention along with the rate of graduation for the two universities. Statistical tools such as measures of central tendency and measures of dispersion have been used to assess the data obtained. Comparative study has been conducted to evaluate and measure both the variables, as this will help in gaining notion regarding the quality of the techniques used to impart online mode of study in these universities. The concept of linear regression equation is put into use to gain an understanding concerning the sum of association amid the two variables (Heiberger and Holland 2015). Scatter diagram has been used to understand the relationship amid the two variables such as Rate of retention (RR) and Graduation rate (GR). The statistical measures enables in better understanding of the association amid the Graduation Rate (GR) and the (RR) prevailing in the universities. Results: The rate of retention and graduation rate has been computed for the variables through using measures of central tendency and measures of dispersion. To compute the variables, mean value, standard deviation, minimum and maximum values are used. The mean value lays down the location of parameters for the variables. The average value obtained from the variable of 29 universities is illustrated by using mean value. Scatter distribution is computed through using standard deviation. The minimum and maximum values is calculated to provide a notion of the spread of distribution. Below listed table lays down the measurement, Table 1: Table representing measurement of descriptive statistics (Source: Created by author) The scatter diagram is obtained by considering the rate of retention (RR) in the form of independent variable. The scatter diagram is listed below; Figure 1: Figure representing scatter diagram of GR and RR (Source: As created by author) The above stated scatter diagram is derived by undertaking the rate of retention (RR) in the X axis whereas the rate of graduation (GR) in the Y axis. The graphs represent an upward rising trend and states that there remains positive yet direct relationship amongst the variables. The scatter diagram helps in reflecting an increase in the value of rate of retention and simultaneously the value of graduation rate increases (Kahraman and Sar? 2016). A regression equation is put into the use by undertaking the Graduation rate in the form of x variable and the Rate of Retention as Y variable. The outcome of regression analysis is illustrated below; Table 2: Table illustrating the outcomes of regression analysis (Source: As created by author) The regression equation derived from the above stated equation lays down that regression coefficient for rate of retention is 0.284526. Below stated equation lays down the regression equation; Y = 25.4229 + 0.284526*x + e. From the above stated equation, Y illustrates the rate of graduation in the universities and X illustrates the rate of retention. Variable E illustrates the components of random error. The coefficient slope represents the p-value of 6.59*10^-5. It should be noted that the P-value is lower than the level of 0.05. hence, the slope of coefficient is relatively different from 0. The p-value of the interception test represents the value of 0. The p-value is lower than the significance level of = 0.05. It can be concluded that the slope of coefficient is different from zero. Along with this, the value of regression co-efficient derived from the above stated equation represents a positive value. The equation represents positive association amid the two variables such as GR and RR. It can be said that the when the value of graduation rate increases the value of RR also simultaneously increases. The graduation rate and the rate of retention signify an uninterrupted variable. Statistical tool such as correlation co-efficient is used to study the association between the constant variable. A positive value of correlation reflects direct relation whereas the negative value illustrates negative association. Below stated table lays down correlation amid the two variables, Graduation Rate (%) Rate of Retention (%) GR(%) 1 RR(%) 0.670245 1 Table 3: Table illustrating correlation between retention rate and graduation rate (Source: As created by author) The value of correlation coefficient represents 0.670245 and it can be regarded that the variable represents direct relationship between them. The goodness of regression fit model is studied by using the adjusted R-square framework. Table 4: Table representing Adjusted R squared for the regression model (Source As created by author) The adjusted R-Square derived from the framework represents 0.428829. However, it is not regarded as one of the best model in terms of reducing the incidence of errors. As the president of South University, there are concerns associated with the part time online mode of courses. The major responsibility is to improve the online mode of learning in university by working towards improving the part time education for those scholars who does not have the opportunity of attending full time campus facilities. On the other hand, being the president of the Phoenix it is understood that undergraduates of distant learners must be offered elasticity with certification programme, which helps in keeping in stay with the interested course associated with work and some occasionally even easier to impart learnings under innovative programmes. Discussion: The data analysis provides the idea that the two variables namely the graduation rate (GR) and retention rate (RR). This represents huge difference between the mean values of the two rates. The computation also represents that the maximum value of rate of retention (RR) is also higher. Thus, the retention rate is higher than the graduation rate (Ko?acz and Grzegorzewski 2016). The results obtained from regression analysis states that there exists a direct relationship between the two variables. This represents that as the value of rate of retention increases the graduation rate also simultaneously increases. Conclusion and recommendations: The report assesses the status of online education in the universities of United States. The outcomes of analysis reflect that the rate of graduation is relatively higher in contrast to the rate of retention. Below listed are the recommendations derived from this study; 1.From the analysis, it is found that the adjusted R-Square derived from the regression analysis is relatively small. Thus, the regression model is not the best fitting model and the results derived from the regression analysis provides raw measurement of the dataset. 2.The sample size of research is small with only 29-sample size. Thus, the research could have been more effective if better procedure of sampling is considered. References Afifi, A.A. and Azen, S.P., 2014.Statistical analysis: a computer oriented approach.
